You can connect to the VPN on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, iPadOS and Android.
When to use VPN
VPN creates a secure link from your device to services at the University as if you were on the University network.
There are many reasons to use VPN, including:
- connecting to your work PC via Remote Desktop
- connecting to applications that are only accessible when on the University's network, such as Agresso, Typecase and Business Objects
- accessing UniApps or UniDesk.
Setting up VPN
To use the University of Bath VPN on a University-owned device, you should find it is already available in your Network Connections menu, you should not try and install it yourself.
To set up a personal laptop or mobile device:
You'll need Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) setup on your account to configure your device. If you haven't already set up MFA you can view the step-by-step guidance.
Go to connect.bath.ac.uk and choose the option 'eduroam + VPN'. This tool will automatically configure your device.
If your device does not support automatic setup, the page also includes manual setup instructions.
