We run an engineering doctorate (EngD) programme in digital entertainment and we're looking for a talented and enthusiastic event co-ordinator to join our team in Bath to help organise the programme of events we run on-line and face-to-face throughout the year.

About the role:

You will work with the Centre's Directors, students, industrial partners and staff, including our event co-ordinator in Bournemouth, to support the delivery of our training programme. This is a busy and varied role which includes devising and setting up a wide range of events, supporting students as they manage their professional development, and helping ensure the smooth and effective running of the Centre. Maintaining our reputation as a centre producing leading edge research, training effective researchers and providing the opportunity for exciting collaborations is important and you will contribute to raising the profile of our work. Our students are based all over the UK and you will also contribute to maintaining a sense of cohort and facilitate the networking which is critical to everyone achieving their potential, especially at this time.

About you:

You will have project management experience, ideally in event management, in situations where attention to detail is vital. Diversity and inclusion are important values of the CDE. You'll need to demonstrate an ability to contribute to an environment and practices where everyone can be themselves, be valued for their differences, and be supported to achieve their potential. You will also have:

  • A highly collaborative approach, demonstrate good use of initiative, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Experience of designing and managing successful events, ideally online as well as face-to-face
  • Experience of working in a higher education, ideally doctoral training, environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communicating effectively with staff at all levels of seniority, students and members of the public.
  • Sensitivity to handling high profile guests and industry leaders; social and emotional intelligence to handle such situations deftly.
  • Good working knowledge of standard IT systems and databases including web-based management information systems and web authoring.
  • Ability to use social media and websites for marketing purposes.
  • Prepared to travel, especially with overnight stays when events are happening.

What we can offer you:

Our campus is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and the City of Bath with its historic charm and social activity only a short distance away creates an excellent environment in which to work.

We are:

  • a family friendly workplace
  • open to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the University.
