Why us

IAAPS Ltd is part of the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) which is a new research institute that builds on 40 years of successful engagement with the UK automotive industries by the current propulsion research group. Critical to the delivery of IAAPS is a new £70m Research & Innovation facility which will establish IAAPS as a global centre of excellence supporting the delivery of future low and zero carbon passenger cars. The new facility will expand considerably the propulsion research conducted and is currently under construction at the Bristol and Bath Science Park and will be opened in early 2021.

What’s involved

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Institute senior team. You will lead the business development activity that ensures IAAPS Ltd delivers its strategic objectives. This will involve building on a strong portfolio of relationships and research projects, together with sustaining a pipeline of industrial and grant funded research.

You will initially be based at our Bath campus, and once the facility is open you will move across to the Bristol and Baths Science Park. This is a full-time role, and will suit you if you are prepared to work flexible hours and to travel within the UK or overseas where required.

What you’ll need

This role requires a developed understanding of the existing market within powertrain engineering and credibility within the automotive sector. Experience within high-value engineering research, development or consultancy is essential.

As the role will work across IAAPS, a collaborative approach that reflects the values we believe in, is crucial. Our values are:

  • Trusted and credible. An Influencer. Globally recognised for our expertise and industry-focused R&I; we attract and invest in the brightest minds to solve the greatest challenges within automotive propulsion.
  • Collaborative. We work inclusively to bring together the best minds to solve challenges. Our partnerships go beyond the transactional. We work flexibly with our partners to co-create solutions and insight.
  • Curious. Intellectually rigorous and investigative; we step back from problems to explore challenges and deliver quality insights to our partners.
  • Thorough and committed to quality delivery. We value and invest in the people, systems and processes needed to deliver for our partners.

Salary/Benefits: In return you will receive:

  • Competitive package up to £60,000, plus bonus.
  • 26 days holiday plus the bank holidays
  • Competitive pension scheme
  • Flexible working options

Interview date: either the 6th or 7th February 2020. If there is a high number of candidates we may consider telephone interviews prior to the interview date.
