An opportunity has arisen within the University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering for a Part Time Teaching Fellow in Design.

 This job role will be primarily associated with the MEng in Integrated Design Engineering and potentially supporting other design activities and teaching where appropriate and time allowing.

Responsibilities will include teaching aspects of technological innovation, engineering- and industrial- design primarily for the studio-based MEng programme in Integrated Design Engineering. This will include preparing and delivering teaching of whole- or parts of- undergraduate units: this will include preparation of teaching material, delivery of lectures, seminars, tutorials, studio sessions and group work; assessment and marking of coursework and dissertations. 

Other Contributions might include:  engaging with industry to bring in projects and case studies for across the Integrated Design Engineering units; manage software and workshops for the intensive Design Make and Test (D-M-T) units; or work alongside faculty marketing team to collate marketing material for the promotion of the IDE programme.

Applicants should hold a first degree and considerable industry experience in Design (and/or a postgraduate qualification in Design).

You must be a strong team player, able to work on your own initiative within a dynamic environment to meet the needs of highly able students. A track record in the delivery of a high-quality student learning experience is desirable but not essential.

This is a part time position of 11 hours per week (0.3FTE) and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis of up to 12 months, with an ideal start date of March 2018.
