We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to undertake the routine testing of emergency lighting, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, RCDs, checking fire doors and compliance tasks.   The applicant will also undertake planned and unplanned maintenance such as general repairs, minor plumbing and testing. 

 The person

  • Applicants must have practical hands on DIY skills and the necessary vocational training and experience to undertake routine testing and checking of emergency lighting, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, RCDs and fire doors
  • You must be familiar with and happy to work in the built environment, able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
  • A flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge 
  • The applicant must be committed to the role and able to work individually or as part of a team
  • Good problem solving, customer service and communication skills are a prerequisite of the post 

A recognised City & Guilds or NVQ 2 qualification in an engineering/ building discipline, or a related subject would be an advantage but not a necessity.
