We are looking for individuals with experience in delivering and maintaining HPC environments and willingness to nurture talent.

The challenge:

You will be joining the University of Bath's Research Computing team at an exciting time as we have recently moved to full cloud supercomputing. These are pivotal roles which will advance the University’s research capability and guide our HPC community on how to use our new cloud environments to their full potential. As a new Research Infrastructure Engineer you will be at the forefront of developing innovative HPC solutions to help our research community thrive.

About the role:

One of your main responsibilities will be to ensure our HPC infrastructure and platforms run seamlessly and deliver the best possible value to our research communities. 

You will work closely with colleagues across the University and apply your in-depth expertise to develop integrated and automated workflows with a focus on performance and optimisation.

You will also help develop the HPC knowledge and skills of our growing user community by providing support, promoting the adoption of best practices and delivering technical training courses.

The Research Computing team is part of the Digital, Data and Technology Group. We are here to ensure our staff and students can enjoy a seamless experience for learning, teaching & research. We aim to provide a technological environment that matches the University's international, teaching and research reputation, and which contributes to the realisation of its key institutional strategies. We strive to respond intuitively to both the ever-evolving needs of our users, and the wide diversity of those users through the exploration of new and emerging technologies.

This role offers a market supplement of £7,000 in addition to salary.

A PhD is desirable for this role as the post holders are expected to work with researchers in terms of building solutions adequate to their needs as well as optimizing and installing research software.
