An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Skills Centre at the University of Bath. The Statistics Advisory Service (SAS) in the Mathematics Resources Centre (MASH) is looking for a MASH Teaching Fellow (SAS) to support and enhance learning for students with higher-level statistical requirements. This is a part time position of 3.65 hours per week on an open ended (permanent) basis.

We are looking for someone with applied statistics and communication skills to:

  • provide expert statistical advice in appointments, drop-ins and workshops
  • be part of an enthusiastic team building high-quality statistical support, revision and student-centred learning experiences 

MASH provides high-quality maths and statistics support to all members of the university. We are a flagship for academic skills support in the university, and are highly regarded at the national level where we contribute significantly to the work of the sigma Network.

As part of the MASH team, through the continual review and improvement of our services, help us meet the needs of all our students! 

About you

As a graduate with a good degree in statistics or with high statistical content your expertise and experience will include:

  • A range of statistical techniques for experimental design and data analysis
  • A variety of computer packages for statistical analysis
  • Exploring and responding in problem-solving situations

Experience providing statistical support and/or guidance to non-specialists or similar will demonstrate your strong communication skills and empathy with those for whom statistics is an unfamiliar or daunting subject. 

An interest in engaging with the wider mathematics support community, for example through sigma, is beneficial.
