The University of Bath Security Services department is an industry leader in the HE sector. The team has a diverse work force all dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment. The team has a varied skill set and are committed to caring for students, staff and visitors 24/7, 365 days per year.  This is an exciting and varied position for any applicant that is looking to help and support students and staff within a Higher Education setting. The position covers the main University campus and City campus buildings off site.

Together with a team of security staff, the post holder is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout both campus and City campus, including student accommodation and other University Buildings.

The role is strongly customer focused and you must demonstrate an ability to perform well within a team and also be able to demonstrate the use of initiative whilst working alone when dealing with emergencies, medical first aid response, alarm activations and many other reported incidents.

The applicant is required to have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with a diverse international community, providing understanding, support and outstanding customer service.

You will be expected to be computer literate and able to operate a number of software packages both bespoke to the University as well as more general software, but training will be given as required.

The post holder must hold a full manual driving licence for manual motor cars and be willing to obtain a First Aid At Work (FAAW) certificate and a Security Industry Authority licence to perform their role (training and funding can be given for the latter 2 requirements).

The basic working week is of 38.5 hours; these hours will be worked on a rotating shift basis cover 24/7 365 days of the year and attracts 15% shift allowance; at times during staff shortages the post holder will be required to work with other Campus teams and cover different shifts.

The appointment will be made subject to a Basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance being obtained.

Previous experience in the security industry is desirable however what is more important is a focus on customer experience, a friendly aptitude and an ability to work well as part of a team.
