Expectant person's risk assessment

This a checklist to guide line managers to identify work tasks that could pose significant risks to your pregnant employee and/or their unborn child(ren).

Form

Employers have a duty to carry out a risk assessment of significant risks to pregnant employees and/or their unborn child(ren). This duty is triggered at the moment that an employee informs the University, in writing, that they are pregnant. This checklist provides a steer on the types of work activities that might require specific consideration.

The University's New and Expectant Mothers Safety Standard provides further guidance on the sort of issues that should be considered.

The risk assessment should be reviewed throughout the pregnancy term (and on return, if the employee is a nursing mother) as needs and risks are likely to change over time.
