Collaborating to Deliver Social Prescribing in Bath & North East Somerset
Role
Emily Rempel joined the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) as a Research Assistant in January 2016. Her doctoral research (in the Department of Psychology and the IPR) is on how publics can engage with the use of data, like big administrative data and social media, to inform and develop policy – as well as the role of these kinds of data in policy development. She works closely with Professor Julie Barnett and Dr Hannah Durrant on the Collaborating to Deliver Social Prescribing in Bath & North East Somerset project. She also cooperates with the Government Digital Service at the Cabinet Office as well as Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Career
Emily's masters research, conducted at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, was on the use of administrative and big data in understanding population health trends, with a particular focus on the association between diagnosed alcohol dependence and criminal sentencing among British Columbian Aboriginal populations.
Education
Before joining the University of Bath, Emily read for her BSc and MSc in Health Sciences and Archaeology at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.
