The (British Computer Society) BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT has announced the winners of their prestigious UK IT Industry Awards 2010.

Meri Williams graduated with a First Class Honours in Computer Information Systems in 2005.

After undertaking an internship and placement with Procter and Gamble, Meri has gone on to become the Information Decision Solutions Manager within the company, leading a team of over 25 people, and regularly returning to Bath looking for talented new students as leader of the South West Recruitment Team.

For her achievements, the BCS have given Meri the BCS Young IT Professional of the Year award.

David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: "To qualify as a finalist is terrific; to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement in these highly contested Awards."

Dr Joanna Bryson, lecturer in Computer Science and Meri's final year project supervisor said: "Meri was a fantastic student who won a prize for her contribution to life in the department. She made the department a better place; not only while she was here, but since she has left."

In addition to her professional activities Meri has also written a successful book in her spare time, The Principles of Project Management, no doubt a factor in receiving this award!
