Faculty to support student delegate at prestigious One Young World Summit
24 June 2013
The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is fully funding a place for one of its students to attend the annual One Young World summit, this year taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in October.
The successful candidate will have the chance to network with over 1,000 One Young World delegates, whilst helping to shape the future of the world alongside famous faces such as UN General-Secretary Kofi Annan and Sir Bob Geldof.
The summit aims to find innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces in seven key areas:
- Education
- Global Business
- Health
- Human Rights
- Leadership & Governance
- Sustainable Development
- Transparency & Integrity
Professor Roger Eatwell, Dean of the Faculty, explained; “Our involvement with this year’s One Young World Summit demonstrates the Faculty’s wider commitment to student development and support in helping to nurture leaders of tomorrow. This is a central aspect of the programmes offered by the Faculty at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.”
The successful candidate will communicate their experiences as a delegate at this prestigious, high-profile, global event, so that the wider university community can learn from their insight.
