Pain-free volunteers needed for research investigating body perception in chronic pain

Thu Aug 21 10:25:00 BST 2014

Researchers in the Department of Psychology are recruiting healthy, pain-free participants to provide control data for research investigating body perception in people with chronic pain.

What does the study involve?

If you decided to take part then you will be asked to attend one research session taking 2-3 hours. During this session you will complete some questionnaires, some movement tasks, and some simple computerized tasks in which you will press buttons in response to images appearing on a screen. There will be frequent breaks throughout the session.

How long will it take?

The session will take no more than 3 hours, including breaks.

When and where will the research take place?

The research will take place at the University of Bath between January and February.

Who can take part?

We are seeking healthy, pain-free volunteers to provide control data for research conducted on people who suffer from chronic pain. We currently need right-handed women aged 55-70.

What is the benefit of taking part?

By participating in this research you will help to improve the understanding of the cortical mechanisms underlying chronic pain conditions. You will also receive £30 payment for your time.

Who can I contact for further information?

Please contact Dr Janet Bultitude (j.bultitude@bath.ac.uk) to find out more about the study.
