Celebrating a year of action

2025/26 was a year of significant action across the University. From colleagues transforming how their teams work, to researchers making their labs more sustainable and staff and students finding new ways to travel, learn and connect, sustainability is being shaped by our community every day.

Green Impact is a staff sustainability engagement programme that consisting of an online toolkit that breaks the University’s sustainability goals into simple, manageable actions while holding space for creativity and room to grow, this has built a culture where sustainability is part of the everyday for staff. The toolkit encourages collaboration and innovation, giving everyone the opportunity to embed sustainability and thrive as changemakers.

In 2025/26, Green Impact enabled 41 teams across 23 departments taking action to improve sustainability in their workplaces, with 409 staff actively involved.

In July, we celebrated:

  • nine Gold awards
  • two Silver awards
  • five Bronze awards
  • two Green awards

Our laboratory community has also continued to make progress through LEAF Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework. In 2025/26, 100% of participating labs in the Centre of Excellence in Water-Based Early-Warning Systems for Health Protection (CWBE) achieved Gold, while 100% of participating labs in the Department for Health achieved Silver.

Together, these achievements show the growing momentum behind sustainability at Bath.

Embed sustainability into everything you do this academic year

You don’t need to be a sustainability expert to take action. Whether you want to develop your skills, make a change in your workplace, rethink your commute or simply find out more, there are plenty of opportunities this semester for you to get involved.

Build your sustainability skills by giving yourself the knowledge and confidence to take action:

Be inspired to think bigger:

Join us for a discussion that will encapsulate empowering young people to drive meaningful climate action, with Christiana Figueres, architect of the Paris Agreement, and Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Phil Taylor for an exclusive event in Bath Abbey on Wednesday 14 October from 6.30-8.30pm.

Become a sustainable traveller

Whether you change how you travel every day or try a new option, your choices can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable campus.

Your action matters

Last year showed what we can achieve when people are given the opportunity to take action. This year, we want to build on that momentum. Whether you sign up to Green Impact as it launches on Wednesday 9 September, take part in LEAF, attend a training course, rethink your commute or simply start a conversation with a colleague, your actions can contribute to a bigger movement for change.
