A number of Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences courses are among the best in the UK in their subject areas, according to the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.
Our Criminology degree, which launched in 2019, ranked 1st overall in the UK. This is its first inclusion in the Criminology league table, demonstrating our Department of Social and Policy Sciences’ expertise and commitment to students’ learning. Our Criminology degree also placed 1st for graduate prospects, 2nd for student satisfaction and joint 6th for teaching quality.
We also ranked 2nd for Psychology, Sociology and Sports Science, with all three in the top 5 nationally for graduate prospects.
Our other subject rankings include:
- Economics (9th)
- Education (8th)
- Politics (9th)
- Social Policy (4th)
- Social work (9th)
Away from overall rankings, our Social Policy courses also placed 1st for graduate prospects, while our Italian languages courses ranked 2nd for student satisfaction.
Sports Science research in the Faculty was also recognised as being among the top 3 in the country.
The University of Bath ranked 9th overall in the UK, matching its top 10 position in both the Complete University Guide 2022 and the Guardian University Guide 2022.
President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian White, said: “I am delighted to see the University retain a top 10 spot overall, and rank highly for so many of our courses, including Architecture and Criminology which each took number one nationally.
“This is of course a reflection of all the hard work and dedication of everyone across our University who I am so grateful to for all their efforts, especially during the challenging times we have all faced.”
