Professor Sonia Seneviratne
Professor Sonia Seneviratne is Professor of Land-Climate Dynamics and Head of the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH Zurich. Her research addresses climate change and extreme events, land-climate interactions, and terrestrial water processes.
She was a Coordinating Lead Author and Lead Author on several Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports, including the IPCC Special Report on Extreme events (2012), the IPCC Special Report on 1.5°C Global warming (2018), and the IPCC 6th Assessment report (2021), on which she was a coordinating lead author of the weather and climate extremes chapter. She was elected Vice-Chair of Working Group I in July 2023. She has received several awards for her research, including the Macelwane Medal of the American Geophysical Union (2013), a consolidator grant of the European Research Council (2014-2019), and the Hans-Oeschger Medal of the European Geosciences Union (2021).

Marinel Ubaldo
Marinel Sumook Ubaldo is a climate justice activist from the Philippines who survived Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, dedicating her life to advocating for climate justice. She recently completed her Master's in Environmental Management at Duke University and currently serves as the Regional Field Director for PowerUp NC under the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation. Marinel co-founded the Institute for Youth in Climate Diplomacy, training youth leaders from ASEAN countries to engage in climate policy and negotiations.
