Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies offer holder events

Experience what it'll be like to study your chosen politics or modern languages course at Bath. You must have an undergraduate degree offer to attend.

Join us at an offer holder event

After you receive an offer to study one of our undergraduate politics and modern languages courses, you can attend an offer holder event.

Our offer holder events are designed to give you the opportunity to experience what life is like as a student at Bath.

As an offer holder for one of our politics and modern languages courses, you can choose from:

  • an in-person Offer Holder Day, which will take place on our University of Bath campus
  • an in-person Department Visit Day, which is more focused on the Department you'll study within, rather than the University. This will also take place on our University of Bath campus

You don’t have to accept your offer to attend one of these days

2026 dates

You’ll be able to choose one of five offer holder event dates in 2026:

  • Saturday 21 February (in-person Offer Holder Day)
  • Wednesday 18 March (Department Visit Day)
  • Friday 10 April (in-person Offer Holder Day)
  • Saturday 25 April (in-person Offer Holder Day)

Our in-person Offer Holder Days include University and Department-level sessions, while the Department Visit Day is more focused on life within the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies. We advise that you book early to make sure you get a place on your preferred day.

Once you have booked your chosen event, you'll receive information about travel, campus accessibility, and where to go when you get here.

Please note: You need to register for your chosen offer holder event using the link in your invitation email. The subject line for this email was 'Congratulations on your offer! Join us at an offer holder event'.

In-person Offer Holder Days will take place between approximately 9.30am and 4pm. Department Visit Days will take place either in the morning or the afternoon on their chosen date. We will add exact timings and timetables to this page soon.

In-person Offer Holder Days

At an in-person OHD, you can experience our campus, speak to staff and students, and see the places that you’ll live and study in during your time with us.

The day will consist of University and Department-level sessions.

During University-level sessions, you will:

  • join a campus tour
  • view our accommodation 1
  • hear about our student support
  • visit the Information Fair to learn more about things like careers and employability opportunities, admissions, and campus facilities

At Department-level, you'll spend time with the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies, which runs our politics and languages courses.

During this, you’ll:

  • speak to politics and modern languages students and teaching staff
  • experience a live taster lecture
  • find out more about course-specific opportunities, like professional placements
  • view the study spaces you’ll be able to use when you arrive at Bath

Department Visit Day

We also offer a Department Visit Day, during which you can get to know the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies and find out more about your chosen course.

At a Department Visit Day, you'll be able to:

  • explore the department's learning spaces
  • talk to current students and teaching staff
  • take part in taster sessions and ask any questions you may have
  • find out more about course-specific opportunities like professional placements, and working and studying abroad.

Although the Department Visit Day is focused on the department, rather than the University as a whole, you'll be able to walk around the campus and explore some of the University's facilities.

As it will take place on a weekday during term time, you'll be able to get a feel for the vibrancy of our campus and student community.
