How do we design digital microinterventions to reduce mental health risks in teens? Help us find out
We need mental health and school-based intervention researchers to help us optimise the design of school-based digital microinterventions for teenagers.
Digital microinterventions have been shown to be an effective and acceptable approach for reducing mental health risk, such as disordered eating, in young people.
However, there is limited understanding of how to maximise the implementation and delivery of these brief, self-guided tools in real-world school settings.
This study aims to build consensus across different expert groups — like researchers, students, school staff, and parents — on which intervention targets to prioritise within a package of school-delivered digital microinterventions, as well as which design features to include.
Take part in this research study
The deadline to apply is 5 June 2026.
What you’ll do
As a participant in this Delphi study, you’ll need to complete two or three separate online surveys. These will be spaced approximately two to three weeks apart.
Each will take around 30 minutes to complete and will ask you to:
- Rate the importance of targeting different transdiagnostic risk factors in these digital microinterventions
- Rate the importance of including different features (engagement and delivery methods) in these microinterventions
- Rate the importance of different factors in influencing student engagement in the digital support tools
What you’ll get
Your involvement will be greatly valued and will help shape a new set of digital tools to support teenagers, so they have the best chance of helping this audience.
You will receive a small compensation for your time.
Eligibility
To take part in this research study, you must meet the following criteria.
- You are living in the UK and are a researcher with expertise in mental health and school-based interventions
- You are a final year PhD student, post-doctoral, or higher-level researcher currently employed at a research institution or similar research organisation (for example, a university or charity) and are conducting (or have previously conducted) research into mental health and school-based interventions
- You are either (a) an author on at least two publications (which can include pre-prints) focused on mental health and school-based interventions, published within the last five years; and/or (b) currently undertaking or having completed a PhD on this topic within the last five years
Your data
All data will be treated as confidential. Nobody outside the research team will be able to see any of your identifiable information (for example, your contact details), and this will not be linked with your survey data. We'll keep all information about you safe and secure.
Your data (in combination with other participant data) may be shared in a research journal or presentation. If so, this will be written in a way that does not identify you.
Ethical approval
Ethical approval sought from The University of Bath Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee (reference: 13396-19289).
