The computer science student experience

We offer a supportive, well-equipped and creative environment to help you reach your full potential.

Take part in events and competitions

As a student here you'll have lots of opportunities to get involved in events such as hackathons, coding competitions and conferences.

‘Going to the Lovelace Colloquium gave me a lot of confidence. There's no pressure and you get to meet women who are all really interested in tech as well.’
Jane Parker BSc Computer Science

Join the department society

The Bath Computer Science Society (BCSS) is for anyone interested in computers and technology.

It is run by students from the Department of Computer Science who organise events and socials throughout the year.

Recent activities included a trip to Bletchley Park to discover more about the history of British computing and an end of year Ball.

Get hands on with project work

From your first year, you'll have opportunities to work on projects with other students.

Students working on a project

The projects you work on will depend on the units you are studying, but could range from working in pairs on a programming and communications project, to a multiple group project where you need to design a new piece of software.

You'll also be able to get involved in some of the world-leading research being carried out in the Department, during your final year project.

What our students say
