So that you can make the most of all the opportunities being part of the SWDTP brings, you are strongly encouraged to attend the SWDTP Welcome Event. Information shared at this event is different to the programme information you’ll hear at your home institution inductions. It’s a chance not only to meet your fellow postgraduate award-holders, but also to find out about how the SWDTP can support your development as a researcher, and how you can access ESRC funding for overseas fieldwork, difficult language training and any collaborative activities you may wish to organise as part of your studies.
In addition, there will be plenty of time to network and enjoy refreshments with the SWDTP team (both in the Hub and from the partner institutions), current SWDTP student representatives and your new colleagues starting in Autumn 2026.
The event will begin with tea, coffee and biscuits from 1.00pm, and you may wish to eat lunch before the event. The programme will run until 5.00pm. There will then be the opportunity for informal networking, until 6.00pm, accompanied by some food and drinks. Please complete the form that the Hub issued with its invitation email. Please RSVP by no later than by no later than 2nd September. The Hub will also reimburse reasonable standard-class UK travel costs, which you can claim after the event - please keep any receipts for train and bus tickets.
