Accessing Diamond Light Source: Facilities and Research Opportunities

Discover how researchers can access Diamond Light Source facilities and explore advanced materials characterisation opportunities.

  • 3 Mar 2026, 11.00am to 12.15pm GMT
  • 10 East, 0.08, University of Bath

Please join us for the next Faculty of Engineering & Design Lecture series hosted by IMPS: Centre for Integrated Materials, Processes & Structures: Visit by Senior Diamond Light Source Representatives Adrian Mancuso & Julia Parker: Facility Overview and Access Pathways.

Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility, providing powerful tools for analysing the structure, chemistry, and behaviour of materials at exceptional resolution and sensitivity.

Event description

This lecture will explore how Diamond’s advanced techniques — including X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy and imaging — enable researchers to investigate complex materials systems and accelerate scientific discovery.

The speakers will outline how Diamond supports research across a wide range of fields, including:

  • energy storage
  • catalysis
  • biomaterials
  • nanotechnology
  • advanced manufacturing and materials science

The session will also introduce practical access routes to Diamond Light Source, helping researchers understand how to engage with the facility and develop future collaborations.

Following the lecture, we invite you to join us for a post-lecture IMPS lunch gathering, providing an opportunity for informal discussion and networking.

Should you wish to meet Adrian Mancuso and Julia Parker individually during his visit to Bath, please check here for available times.
