This is a foundation level course for those wanting an introductory guide to using social media. Led by Tom Mason, the University’s Social Media Manager in the Department of Marketing & Communications, the session will provide you with a beginner’s guide to using sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube to support your work at the University.
These sessions will focus on equipping you with the expertise and confidence to use social media to support your work. It will offer actionable social media skills which you can apply to your roles.
This session will introduce a variety of online platforms with tutorials on how to publish content. You will learn how to use social media sites to engage with a relevant audiences and be confident in your online interactions.
By the end of the session, you will be aware of: An understanding of what social media platforms are available and how to set up a profile; Knowledge of how to use different social media platforms; An understanding of the time required to manage social media; The confidence to use social media; An awareness of the support for social media available from the University.
Speaker profiles
Tom Mason is the University's Social Media Manager. He is responsible for managing the University's corporate social media profiles and creates regular content to support the University's strategic objectives through its Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels. Before joining the University of Bath, he was the Senior Social Media Coordinator at The University of Manchester.
