Using University software for free on or off campus
We have a wide range of software licenses to fill the needs of most academic courses and professionals at the University. Students and staff can access these for free on any University computer or by using UniDesk or AdminDesk from your home computer.
You can find software available to you but not already installed on your University Computer under the "Software Centre" application, located in the "Start Menu".
Get additional software or download your own versions
Contact the IT Purchasing Team to discuss your software needs. We can discuss software options available and associated costs with you.
For software requests and renewals, simply access the Request Software form from the TOPdesk Requesting Software summary page. This will detail the information you will need before you start to complete the form, as the system does not allow you to save and return later.
Software downloads that we offer
Some software is made available for members of the University to download for free, and use while you are here:
- students and staff can download and install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for free
- you can use our secure downloads tool to download software including SPSS, Maple, Nvivo and Autodesk
- students can create an account and use Software 4 Students for other software
- staff can visit the OnTheHub portal for professional software needs
Adobe Creative Suite and other applications
Departments can buy this to be installed on individual computers. Staff can view our Adobe for education prices and contact us for more information. You will need to pass your requirements on to your departmental finance team. Please include whether you need the Mac or Windows PC version of the software.
