International Engineering Residential

A free, engineering specific summer residential for international students taking place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August 2024.

What is the International Engineering Residential?

The International Engineering Residential is a 5-day programme that aims to provide prospective international students with an insight into studying Engineering and student life at the University of Bath.


The International Engineering Residential is a free, residential programme focusing on various Engineering courses offered at the University, consisting of a programme of academic activities, general sessions on applying to and studying in the UK and having contact with current students at the University. You will also be able to engage with your peers looking to studying a similar course to you and discover student life in Bath!

The International Engineering Residential is free-of-charge, including on-campus accommodation, meals for the duration of your stay, a programme of academic sessions (lectures, seminars, workshops) and fun social activities. Participants will be responsible for their travel and any costs involved to and from the University.

Successful completion of the programme will give access to a guaranteed conditional offer subject to conditions (see details below).


Who can apply for the International Engineering Residential?

All international students (as classified by overseas fee status) who will be starting university in September 2025 and who are academically able to study at Bath in their chosen subject.

All students must also be able to show evidence of their English proficiency with an IELTS 5.5 overall or an equivalent school qualification.


Subjects on offer & academic requirements

Subject areas will include the below and you will be required to choose one of theses subject areas when submitting an application. During the residential you will have academic sessions based on your chosen subject area:


  • Architecture & Civil Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Electronic & Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

Guaranteed Conditional Offer

Subject areas will include the below and you will be required to choose one of these subject areas when submitting an application. During the residential you will have academic sessions based on your chosen subject area:


Application criteria for guaranteed conditional offer:

  • You will be applying for University in 2025

  • A UCAS application is submitted by the UCAS ‘on time’ deadline for the next entry cycle

  • Complete all sections of the UCAS form including the personal statement for the degree you wish to study at Bath

  • You will be applying to university as an international student (classified by overseas fee status)

  • Academic criteria for guaranteed conditional offer:

  • You meet the 'essential' academic entry requirements for your chosen course as stated on our course pages.

  • You apply for an eligible course for the subject stream you undertook as part of the International Engineering Residential


Application process

For your application, you will need to provide details of your predicted grades, any English language qualifications and write a small 300-word personal statement on why you want to join this programme.


Applications will close on the Friday 28th June 2024. We will review your application and will be in touch with the outcome by Friday 5th July 2024.

There may be a waiting list for the most popular subject areas, you will be emailed if you are on a waiting list and the latest you will hear if you have received a place will be Friday 12th July 2024.
