I embarked on my postgraduate journey in October 2021 to pursue an MSc in Automotive Engineering with Electric Propulsion. From the bustling city of China to the state-of-the-art labs at the Faculty of Engineering & Design, my journey has been a vibrant mix of challenges, learning, and growth.

After a year of intensive learning, I made a leap into the professional world. After graduation, I transitioned into a two-year graduate programme at the LEVC. It has allowed me to immerse myself in all aspects of the business, including research and development and project management activities.

At present, I am with the Test & Development team, working tirelessly on a critical fastener re-supply project. My primary task is to conduct fastener torque-to-yield tests to ensure engineering requirements are met before initiating mass production.

Looking back, my time at the University of Bath was invaluable. It provided me with a solid theoretical foundation, especially in automotive, mechanical, and software engineering. This knowledge has become the cornerstone of my engineering career.

The team-based activities were more than just part of the course; they were a platform to hone my communication skills. These skills have now become my tools for effective liaison between team members and external suppliers.

Additionally, the University’s Career Service was a guiding light in my journey. They helped me prepare for job interviews through constructive feedback sessions, which significantly boosted my confidence.

Balancing numerous tasks and activities was the biggest challenge I faced during my studies. However, through meticulous planning, setting clear goals, and making backup plans for unforeseen issues, I was able to overcome this hurdle and strike a balance between my studies and personal life.

My advice to future MSc students is simple yet powerful: "Be active and confident. Speak to people who are more experienced". This has been my mantra throughout my journey and has helped me to reach where I am today.
