Belinda Ng and Professor Johan Rockström are one of 30 pairs of youth climate leaders and climate experts from across the world matched for 1-2-1 conversations as part of this year’s ActNowFilm.

ActNowFilm: youth climate leaders in conversation with climate experts is an international youth voices in climate change project, selected to showcase at COP28. The film is based on 1-2-1 conversations between 30 pairs of youth climate leaders and world leading climate experts.

Belinda Ng is a UK-based sustainability consultant, advocate and change-maker from Hong Kong. Beyond her role as a corporate sustainability consultnat at ERM, she is passionate about creating an impact at the social and environmental nexus, specifically focusing on sustainability education and resilient food systems. In 2020, she founded ‘SustainaPod’, a youth-led podcast empowering high school and university students to engage in dialogue about sustainability topics and careers with leading sustainability professionals across Asia and Europe.

She is a selected member of several international networks of young leaders in sustainability, including the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council and UN Women's 30 for 2030 cohort of young leaders accelerating progress towards gender equality across their spheres of influence. As a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in the London Hub and a certified Climate Reality Leader, Belinda is leading city-level youth initiatives focused on education about climate-friendly diets. Furthermore, she is the Hong Kong youth leader of the Act4Food Act4Change campaign, a global youth-led movement mobilizing food systems transformation through cross-sector advocacy and youth empowerment at the regional and local level. In her home city of Hong Kong, Belinda led a fundraising and awareness-raising campaign during the Covid-19 pandemic that provided nutritious food packages for over 300 low-income families to alleviate food insecurity.

Professor Johan Rockström is Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Professor in Earth System Science at the University of Potsdam, and Professor in Water Systems and Global Sustainability at Stockholm University. He gained internatio-nal recognition with the development of the Planetary Boundaries framework, which has since become a standard of sustainability science. His research covers a range of topics related to the Earth System and global sustainability in the Anthropocene, creates considerable impact and has been widely used to guide policy.

Johan has provided strategic scientific guidance, including to the European Commission and as a member of various scientific academies. He regularly acts as a speaker to high-level international meetings and organisations, such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), the General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA), the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences (UNFCCC). Moreover, he is the Chief Scientist of Conservation International, as well as chairing the advisory board for the EAT Initiative on Health, Food and Sustainability, the Earth League, Future Earth (co-chair) and the Earth Commission.

Johan’s work has been recognized with accolades, the most recent of which include the TIME100, most influential people in the world acknowledgement ( 2023), the Prince Albert II of Monaco Climate Change Award (2020), the Hillary Laureate by the Hillary Institute of International Leadership (2017), the French distinction Knight of the Legion of Honour (2016) and the German Environmental Award (2015).
