Language Teachers' Event 2013
24 June 2013
In conjunction with the University Open Day on 20 June 2013, we held a Language Teachers' Event (now in its second year) to provide useful information to both staff and students from the region.
The day, led by Dr Peter Lambert and Dr Irene Macias, started with informative sessions on the UCAS process and preparing for the transition to studying languages, before moving on to look at language skills for A-Level teaching.
The afternoon session saw a mini-conference around the theme of careers in languages held in the University’s specialist interpreting labs, where students from the MA Interpreting & Translating programme acted as translators in a number of different European languages throughout the activity.
Some of the schools attending the event also brought along students to the day, who were also treated with opportunities to tour the campus and attend talks on the programmes offered by the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies as part of the wider Open Day event.
