Foundation years or programmes are courses designed to support students who are not yet suitably prepared for direct entry to university study.

If you have completed your secondary education in your own country and are unable to be considered for our undergraduate courses, you may want to consider a foundation pathway.

With the exception of our MPharm Pharmacy with Preparatory Year course (not available to international students), the University of Bath does not currently offer its own foundation pathway.

We do consider students who have studied suitable courses elsewhere, including through our partners.

Bath Academy’s University Foundation Programme (UFP) offers a University of Bath Pathway for international students who are aiming to study an undergraduate degree at Bath.

Students enrolled on the UFP (University of Bath Pathway) will benefit from the following:

• A guaranteed conditional offer letter from the University, following application through UCAS

• The opportunity* to live in University of Bath accommodation based in the city centre, for example Green Park House (*on a first come, first served basis and for September 2025 starts only)

• A free external membership to the University library

• A free University of Bath Sports Pass
