Join our research into whether personalised feedback can improve your diet
Earn £200 and help us understand if personalised feedback can improve people's diets. We need volunteers aged 18-45 with diets low in fresh vegetables.
Most people don’t eat enough fresh vegetables, which may leave them more susceptible to diseases such as cancer and diabetes, as well as cardiovascular issues.
For this study, we want to look at whether a mobile phone app that uses personalised feedback can increase people’s vegetable consumption and improve their markers of metabolic health.
Details about taking part in this study
We are recruiting volunteers until 30 March 2026.
What you’ll do
You will be asked to use a mobile phone app to keep a record of what you eat. For some participants, this app will also provide personalised feedback in the form of advice and recipes.
Whilst using the app, you'll be required to complete several questionnaires and wear a continuous glucose monitor.
Before and after you use the app, you'll visit the Centre for Nutrition, Exercise and Metabolism's laboratories at the University of Bath.
We will ask you to provide a few extra measurements to give us a snapshot of your metabolic health. These include blood and saliva samples, as well as height, weight and blood pressure measurements.
What you’ll get for completing the study
On completion of the study, you will receive £200.
We will also provide you with detailed feedback about your metabolic health. You will also have access to a mobile phone app that normally requires a paid subscription.
Your data
Your data will be treated as confidential. Nobody outside the research team will be able to see your name or contact details — you'll be allocated a project code instead. We'll keep all information about you safe and secure.
After the study, we will keep some of the data to check the results. When we write the report, it will be done so in a way that you won't be identifiable.
Ethical approval
This project has been given a favourable ethics opinion by the University of Bath, Biomedical Science Research Ethics Committee [reference: 8028-11785].
