Micro Internships

Short-term, project-based work experience opportunities.

Applications for winter 2026 Micro Internships are now open

The University of Bath’s Micro Internship programme offers short, paid opportunities that fit around your studies and provide valuable professional experience.

Open to all students, Micro Internships typically involve 20 to 35 hours of work and can be completed on a full-time schedule or flexibly over several weeks, depending on the needs of the employer and the student.

By contributing to a live project with an external organisation, you'll gain practical experience, develop professional skills and build the confidence to pursue future opportunities. Micro Internships help you explore career options, make a positive impact and develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed for career success and lifelong employability.

When Micro Internships are available, they’ll be advertised on MyFuture under the Opportunity type of Micro Internship. Micro Internships provided as part of the scheme will have: University of Bath Exclusive Micro Internship in the job title.

We recommend you read the application process carefully as this can vary between opportunities.

This scheme is designed to be flexible, so if you have restrictions (e.g. due to visa conditions) employers are happy to decide on a schedule that works for you both, given the adjustments are reasonable.

Before applying, make sure you’re available and able to fully commit to the internship.

Pay and conditions

All Micro Internships are paid at the National Living Wage.

Opportunities are either funded by the university or the host employer so HR and payment processes may differ between internships.
