Sign up to take part in the two-day creative hackathon, where students and staff will work in small teams to develop ideas for a physical sustainability installation on campus.
The hackathon will take place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February, 10am to 4pm. This will include talks, team working and pitching. Vegan lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Across the weekend, you’ll hear from and be supported by:
- award winning environmental charity Hubbub on what makes a great sustainability campaign and how to inspire action through positive, creative communication
- our Sustainability team on priorities, plans, and opportunities
- professional makers on what makes a successful, feasible installation in the real world
Working in teams, you’ll then respond to a live brief, brainstorm ideas, refine them, and pitch your final concept to a judging panel.
One winning idea will be developed further and turned into a real installation on campus, with budget set aside to make it happen.
Benefits of taking part
- Build practical skills in creative thinking, teamwork, and pitching
- Gain experience working on a live brief with real constraints
- Learn how sustainability campaigns and installations are designed in practice
- Get a platform to pitch your ideas to an expert panel
- Receive support, collaborate with and get feedback from professional campaigners and makers
- Strengthen your CV with a project that has visible, on-campus impact
- Earn a certificate to show your participation and the skills gained
You’ll also be helping shape how sustainability is experienced and understood at the University of Bath.
This is not a theoretical exercise. You’ll be responding to a real brief, with a real client, real audiences, and a real outcome. The winning idea will be built and seen by thousands of people on campus.
