Student's experiences of Clearing at the University of Bath

Hear from a few of our current students about their experience of finding their place through Clearing.

Emmie's Clearing story (second year, Biomedical Sciences)

"I went through Clearing because I declined the offer that the University of Bath gave me and I really wanted to go to the University of Bath after I received my A Level results.

Clearing was my back up plan on how to get to the University that I want to go to. I decided to go to the University of Bath in the end because of the high ranking that they have for my degree and also because of the environment on campus.

The clearing process was not long at all. It took me 1-2 minutes to call to the University of Bath, give them some of my A Level results and they asked me a few questions. After I got the verbal offer, the uni sent me an email with clear instructions and guidance on how to do clearing.

The advice I would give out is don't panic, just be confident and just go through the process. Just call the uni and they will help you"

So basically , don't panic, be confident and you'll be fine. Good luck!"

Valentina's Clearing story

Valentina is a first year Mathematics student who looked into Clearing after missing her Firm and Insurance offers.

Manny's Clearing story (final year, Chemical Engineering)

My clearing experience is interesting as I originally had 4 offers, but I forgot to accept any so they declined when the deadline had passed.

On the day of my A level results, I arrived before the opening times as I knew I had to be quick with clearing. I had my UCAS number prepared as I knew they may ask for this on the clearing call. I rang the university I originally wanted to make my firm choice, but I rang Bath upon learning they weren’t doing clearing for the course I wanted

I was ultimately happy to come to Bath as they were better for the course I wanted to do than any of the universities that I got an offer from.

My advice to students going through clearing is to remain calm and prepare as much as you can (UCAS number, arrive early and list the universities/ courses you want to check). I think it’s important not to panic and have alternative universities/ courses that you are happy with as the one you want may not be going through clearing."
