About DECkNO

Based in the Social & Policy Sciences Department at the University of Bath, the DECkNO research hub aims to challenge Eurocentrism in the social sciences, arts and humanities and to consider the socioeconomic, pedagogical and research based policy implications of a non Eurocentric social sciences

We work in three interconnected areas; teaching, research and practice/policy.

DECkNO aims to:

• Promote inter/trans-disciplinary research on coloniality, post colonial, decolonial, critical and feminist theories and research. We work closely with the SWDTP Standing Seminar in Critical Theory to renew and decolonise critical theory.
• Bring discussion of settler colonialism and the persistence of coloniality of power/knowledge to the forefront of research across the faculty, the University and beyond
• Discuss the pedagogical need and pathways towards decolonising the University curriculum and teaching practice
• Bring alternative critical angles to the teaching and learning of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes
• Facilitate the discussion of the complexity of an inclusive policy with equality based on diversity
  
• Develop new epistemological insights into decolonising academia, where North and South interconnect globally

DECkNO members

Our members work with grassroots communities, as well as aiming to attract major grants and undertake research projects funded by UK and EU Research Councils, other academic funders, related public-sector bodies and international academic and non-academic organisations and Networks.
