Abstract submissions for the International Conference on Injury and Illness Prevention in Sport

Find out how to submit an abstract to the International Conference on Injury and Illness Prevention in Sport (UKCCIIS).

Factsheet

All abstracts will be reviewed by the International Conference on Injury and Illness Prevention in Sport (UKCCIIS) Scientific Committee, and will be considered for presentation at the conference.

Abstract Guidelines

Your abstract should be written in English, and be no more than 300 words. The title should be brief but informative - it should not be capitalised.

We suggest that your abstract include the following section headings:

  • background
  • objective
  • design
  • setting
  • participants
  • interventions/assessment of risk factors
  • main outcome measures
  • results (if available)
  • conclusions

We also welcome practice-based submissions, such as case studies, service evaluations, or applied projects from practitioners working in injury and illness prevention.

For practice-based submissions, headings can be adapted as appropriate. For example:

  • background
  • context
  • approach
  • outcomes/lessons learned

If your project is still in progress, or in the planning stage, you do not need to report data. Instead, you should focus on the background and methods, such as your:

  • study design
  • population
  • measurement approaches
  • planned analyses

If you would prefer to give an overarching summary of a programme of work (for example, a PhD programme of work), this is also welcome.

Submitting your abstract

The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2026. To submit your abstract, please email UKCCIIS@bath.ac.uk.

You must submit your abstract as a Word file using the following structure:

  • presenter name (surname, first name)
  • co-authors
  • institution(s)
  • preferred presentation type: oral / poster
  • abstract text

Please indicate whether you would like your abstract considered for an oral presentation or a poster. Oral presentations will be 10-15 minutes, depending on the number of speakers in each session.

Your abstract will be reviewed by the UKCCIIS Scientific Committee. We will work with you if any adjustments are needed.
