What is KE?

Getting involved in external Advisory Boards

Hear about getting involved in Advisory Boards, and experiences of advising external organisations and policy makers. As Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies and Independent Sage attendees, Harry and Kit reflect on advisory roles and challenging external organisations in times of calm and crisis.

Working with other research agencies: introducing NatCen

NatCen are an independent social research organisation that partner with Universities to conduct social research. We will learn about their interests and how we can work together.

Embedding KE in the research lifecycle

Led by colleagues in RIS, this session will discuss the potential for embedding KE throughout the research cycle, starting at the point of identifying stakeholders and bid writing, before moving onto project management and impact, and finally how to articulate your KE practice in reward and recognition.

Run by RIS as part of the Ignite Bitesize KE sessions, this introductory session examines the possibilities for extending the reach of your research, for example in setting up toolkits, protocols and CPD opportunities.

Getting going with KE: building your networks and influencing policy

In this session Amy Thompson (IPR) will reflect on how to influence policy, and in conversation with Kate Woodthorpe, will discuss how to get going with building your external network and identifying your policy areas of expertise. All are welcome, especially PhD students and ECR colleagues, and new starters to the University.

Sign up for a 1:1 mentoring and mapping session with Research Impact Manager Emma Gibbard to identify who you are working with, who you want to work with, and how you’re going to get there.
