The Summer School is an excellent opportunity for you to study face-to-face at the University of Bath whilst working toward your postgraduate qualification.
At the Summer School, you can:
- exchange ideas with other educators from all around the world
- meet staff and students from our Department of Education
- enjoy the campus facilities
- visit the world-renowned city of Bath
You can study units at this event if you are a current student on our MA Education or Postgraduate Certificate in International Education (PGCiE) courses.
Please note: we plan to offer the Summer School on campus. Contingency plans are in place to offer units online, if necessary. Should this happen and you decide not to partake in the online unit, you will be given the option to carry forward your fee/deposit or have a refund. All decisions will take into account considerations including UK government guidelines and the overall number of registrants for the Summer School.
Study at our Summer School
Our Summer School will take place across two weeks between 1 July 2024 to 12 July 2024. You can study one unit per week.
You'll have access to the learning materials online (via Moodle) from 1 June 2024 and will be able to complete your unit at your own pace.
The Summer School is designed to enhance your learning and supplement your own studies. You will not be able to fully complete units during your Summer School week.
We will run some sessions that cover current debates in education, such as critical posthumanism, decolonisation, positive action in leadership and climate literacy. Other sessions will give you the chance to take part in 'flipped learning', allowing you to bring pre-prepared work and ideas to the classroom to discuss with Bath staff and your peers. This is designed to help you gain new perspectives and develop your work. There will be different in-person activities, as well as opportunities to:
- network
- take part in peer learning
- attend tutorials
- discuss ideas with tutors

There is an additional £55 admin charge per application. See the most recent fees for postgraduate courses.

If you are already registered for the MA Education Dissertation, you will only need to pay the admin fee of £55 to take this unit as part of the Summer School.
Unless exceptional circumstances have been agreed by the Director of Studies, or campus-based Summer School arrangements need to be changed by the University, the per unit deposit is non-refundable. It will not normally be possible to change units once an application has been made.
Travel and accommodation
You'll need to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements. Please check that we're still planning to hold Summer School on campus before confirming any travel or accommodation arrangements that relate specifically to your stay in Bath.
