If you have any questions, or would like to discuss hosting a Micro Internship, please get in touch.

What types of projects are suitable?

Clearly defined projects that can be completed within 35 hours, such as research, data analysis, marketing and communications, content creation, process improvement, or AI and digital initiatives.

Are students paid?

Yes. All Micro Interns are paid at least the National Living Wage. Payment is made either by the University through the funded scheme or directly by the host organisation through the self-funded model.

What is the time commitment for employers?

You'll need to provide a project brief and light-touch supervision. Micro Internships can also provide valuable line management experience for junior staff.

What support does the University provide?

We advertise opportunities, can support applications and shortlisting, and manage onboarding and programme administration. Our aim is to make the process as straightforward as possible.

What size organisation can take part?

The University-funded scheme is primarily designed to support SMEs. Organisations of any size can participate through the self-funded model, helping to expand the range of opportunities available to our students.

How do students apply?

Opportunities are advertised exclusively to University of Bath students. Applications can be managed either by your organisation or with support from the University. Final selection always rests with the host organisation.

What happens after selection?

Once you've selected your preferred candidate(s), the University completes the necessary checks and administration. You'll then arrange an introductory meeting to agree expectations and practical arrangements before the internship begins.

Can I offer further work after the internship?

Yes. Any employment or additional work beyond the Micro Internship should be arranged directly with the student and must comply with relevant employment legislation.
