Student Success Stories – sharing your journey

Share your employability journey through a blog or video, get support to tell your story, and enter a £30 prize draw for blog contributors.

Inspire other students and grow your network by sharing your story.

Do you have an interesting, unusual or inspiring story to tell about your journey towards a placement, internship or graduate role? We’d love you to be part of Student Success Stories – a series showcasing how University of Bath students develop their employability.

You might want to share:

  • how you secured a placement, internship or graduate role
  • how extra‑curricular activities helped you build key skills
  • the impact of work experience, volunteering, societies or events
  • a challenge you overcame or a path that didn’t go to plan

How you can get involved

You can contribute in one of two ways:

  1. Write a blog post for the Student Success Stories blog, or
  2. Take part in a short video interview.

Your post, whether it's written or recorded, will be cross‑posted to the Student Success LinkedIn page. You’ll be tagged in the LinkedIn post so you can easily share it with your own networks.

Prize draw for blog contributors

Everyone who contributes a post between 1 June 2026 and 31 December 2026 will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a £30 Love2Shop voucher.

Read the Terms and Conditions of the prize draw.

Who can submit a story

We welcome stories from everyone; whether you're a current student, or a graduate, we'd love to hear from you. All students and alumni who have a story published between 1 June and 31 December 2026 will be entered into the prize draw.

Support available

You don’t need to be a confident writer to take part. We can:

  • help you shape your ideas
  • support you with writing or editing
  • guide you if you’re not sure where to start

Writing a blog post

We understand that getting started with a blog post can be a bit daunting. Here is some information that answers the questions we're asked most frequently. If you don't see the information you need, just get in touch and we can help.

  • There is no minimum or maximum word count. We want to publish your story in your own words, so feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Most blogs end up at around 800 words, but you should tell your story your way, so don't feel constrained by this
  • We understand that you will have other demands on your time, and do not want to put any additional pressure on you. We will work to your timescales, and what is achievable alongside your other commitments. We are happy to publish your story at any time that suits you
  • The blog is designed to be written by students, for students, so please feel free to use your own voice; there is no need to meet a particular tone of voice or style, although your post will need to comply with the university’s editorial guidelines
  • To publish your blog, we'll need a photo of you. It needs to be landscape, and large; the standard photo an iPhone takes is fine and if you want to take a selfie, that would work. We are happy with something you either have or can do quickly with minimum effort, or we can take a photo for you if you are able to pop into the Careers Centre during drop-in hours
