Apply for Bath-FAPESP SPRINT international research funding

The next call for collaborative research projects with the São Paulo State Research Foundation in Brazil is now open.

Joint Funding Call

The International Relations Office invites applications for the joint University and São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP) funding call to support projects in all academic disciplines under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 1st Edition 2025.

The joint call for São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration (FAPESP SPRINT) builds on our successful partnerships in Latin America and the research connections our academics have forged with colleagues in Brazil.

The FAPESP-SPRINT award provides seed funding for collaborative research at the initial project stage or additional funding to improve ongoing research projects. University of Bath researchers can apply for up to £5,000 per year, for projects running for a maximum of two consecutive years. Funding for the partner researcher is matched by FAPESP.

The grant is to be used for the exchange of researchers, visits for research planning, participation in workshops, and initial data collection activities to maintain research collaboration and its consolidation.

Eligibility

Find out if you're eligible to apply for the funding.

The call is open to researchers employed by the University for projects with partners at research institutions in the State of São Paulo. To be eligible, the collaborating Principle Investigator (PI) will have to be responsible for current FAPESP Research Grants and be concurrently applying to the SPRINT call. It is not necessary to have existing links. University of Bath researchers can search the FAPESP Virtual Library to find ongoing FAPESP projects and their Principal Investigators.

Please visit the FAPESP website for application guidance.

Our Cooperation Agreement with FAPESP has facilitated collaborative research and research staff mobility since 2013 and previous awards have included projects with academics at the University of São Paulo (USP), University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and São Paulo State University (UNESP), including research on applied mathematics, social innovation and early virus detection.
