Running an employer-led workshop or event
Delivering a workshop or an occupational talk is an excellent way to raise your profile on campus, and reach students from a wide variety of backgrounds and courses.
Because you're offering a service there is no administration charge, although we will ask you to send us a brief outlining what you'd like to deliver, so that we can ensure an impartial and varied programme.
Workshops can be delivered in-person on campus, or run remotely online. There are benefits to both approaches, so we'll work with you to determine the best option for you.
Examples of workshops and events
There are a range of topics and activities you can cover in an employer-led workshop or event. Examples are:
- Mock Assessment Centres
- Mock Interviews
- Case Study interviews
- Competency interviews
- Strengths interview
- Psychometric testing
If you're not sure what topic you'd like to cover, or would like to work with us to devise a workshop that fills a gap in our existing calendar of events, please get in touch. We'd be happy to talk to you about different topics.
Key dates
We host employer events during both semesters of the academic year, which runs from September to July:
- Semester 1 (Autumn term): October to November – bookings normally open early summer
- Semester 2 (Spring term): February to April – bookings normally open from early December
We're happy to accommodate events outside these timeframes, though student engagement may be lower during exam periods and holidays.
Working with us
Employer-led events and workshops are organised by our Employer Engagement Team, which is a small, friendly team that coordinates all cross-university employer activity from our Autumn Careers Fair through to bespoke events. The team works closely with a wide variety of employers, helping them to connect with our students and recent graduates.
If you're interested in hosting an employer-led event or workshop to raise your profile or target a specific cohort of students, get in touch with the team.
Other ways to connect with students
There are many ways to connect with our students. If you'd like to run an employer-led workshop or event alongside other activities, or just want to find out more about other opportunities, take a look at:
