BSW Diversity in Health Research Network
BSW Diversity in Health Research Network – Increasing Diverse Participation in Research across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.
The BSW Diversity in Health Research Network is a research network covering Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire with a specific focus on widening participation in health research.
It is recognised that communities that face the greatest challenges to health and wellbeing are often under-represented in research. The network has been set up to help make sure all local communities benefit from research.
It is a broad coalition of health and care staff, researchers, academics, local authority partners, voluntary sector partners and community partners, from across the whole of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW).
The network was set up in autumn 2024 as part of BSW ICS’s Research Engagement Network (REN) programme. The REN programme was part of a national programme of work funded by NHS England to increase diverse participation in health and care research. As of 1 December 2024 there are around 90 members, from around 35 different organisations in BSW.
The network brings together people who are passionate about diversity and holds informal meetings every 2 months at which resources and good practice are shared and connections are made.
The aim of the network is to help create a joined-up approach to working with communities and embedding inclusive research practices across BSW.
