Help with Technology

If you have any problems with IT hardware and software, contact our IT helpdesk. You can also purchase equipment from them.

You will also be invited to attend a University Life session, you can find your time slot on this page and the link will be sent to you via Microsoft Teams. It’s important that you attend this.

10.15am 11.15am Virtual Welcome session and introductory talk for all students on the MA Interpreting and Translating, MA Translation and Professional Language Skills and MA Translation with Business Interpreting with the Director of Studies, followed by a short introduction to the library with Steven Wonnacott, Emma Stuart Edwards and Karina Bradshaw
12pm (midday) 1pm Virtual Introduction to translation (MAIT Chinese stream & TBI) with Miguel Fialho
2.15pm 5pm See Moodle induction page In-person general campus tour with Student Ambassador. Please visit Moodle Induction module page to sign up to one group.

Thursday 24 September

9.30am 11am Chancellors' Building 1.10 Introductory talk for all students on the MA Interpreting and Translating (Chinese) & MA Translation with Business Interpreting with Miguel Fialho, Jane Francis, Yukteshwar Kumar and Xu Lin
2.15pm 5.15pm Bottom of stairway in front of Library Tour of Language Labs. Students will be split into multiple groups and will be asked to attend at one of the times. Groups & times will be published on Moodle induction module page.

Friday 25 September

10.15am 1.15pm Virtual Meet your Personal Tutor 'virtually' - unless you receive alternative email instructions from your Tutor
4pm 4:30pm Virtual Q&A session with Director of Studies

Please check this page regularly as sometimes we need to change the times and locations of Welcome events. During Welcome, we would recommend you check your timetable at the start of each day.

As well as these compulsory events, you can also get involved in optional activities run by The SU.

Link to other students on your course

We have set up a Microsoft Team for your course. You can use this to ask questions and start to get to know the people on your course. You will be able to access this from the end of August.


Moodle is our Virtual Learning Environment. During Welcome events you may need to access learning materials which will be in your Moodle Induction Module. You will be able to access Moodle once you have completed registration in September.
