Scholarships for international undergraduate students

We offer scholarship schemes aimed at overseas students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship

The Chancellor's Scholarship is aimed at overseas students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their studies, and awards will be made to all eligible students. All overseas students receiving this award will receive a first year tuition fee waiver worth up to £2,000.

Scholarship value

If eligible you will receive one of the following:

  • a £2,000 first year tuition fee waiver if you achieve A Level grades of A* A* A*, or equivalent (see Terms and Conditions)
  • a £1,000 first year tuition fee waiver if you achieve A Level grades of A* A* A, or equivalent (see Terms and Conditions)

Who is eligible

In order to receive the Chancellor's Scholarship you must:

  • be assessed as a new first year overseas fee paying student
  • accept a place on a full-time campus based undergraduate course starting in 2019
  • achieve A Level grades of at least A* A* A, or equivalent (see Terms and Conditions)

The International Baccalaureate 50th Anniversary Scholarship

The International Baccalaureate 50th Anniversary Scholarship is aimed at overseas students studying the International Baccalaureate who have demonstrated academic excellence in their studies. Awards will be made to all eligible overseas students, who will receive a first year tuition fee waiver worth up to £6,000.

Scholarship value

If eligible you will receive one of the following:

  • if you achieve 44 points or higher in your IB you will receive a £6,000 first year tuition fee waiver (a total of £8,000 including the Chancellor's Scholarship)
  • if you achieve 43 points in your IB you will receive a £3,000 first year tuition fee waiver (a total of £5,000 including the Chancellor's Scholarship)
  • if you achieve 42 points in your IB you will receive a £1,500 first year tuition fee waiver (a total of £3,500 including the Chancellor's Scholarship)

Who is eligible

In order to receive the International Baccalaureate 50th Anniversary Scholarship you must:

  • be assessed as a new first year overseas fee paying student
  • accept a place on a full-time campus based undergraduate course starting in 2019
  • achieve 42 points or higher in the International Baccalaureate (IB)

Consideration for awards

If you apply to Bath you will be automatically considered for the Chancellor's Scholarship and the International Baccalaureate 50th Anniversary Scholarship, if you have met the eligibility criteria.

We will notify you by email if we determine that you are eligible for either or both of these awards upon confirmation of your examination results.

The Doctor Shakuntala Gokhale Award

The Doctor Shakuntala Gokhale Award offers one award aimed at an academically gifted student from India.

Award value

If successful you will receive:

  • £1,400 in the first year of study, paid in three installments in September, January and April.

Who is eligible

In order to receive the The Doctor Shakuntala Gokhale Award you must:

  • be assessed as a new first year full-time overseas fee paying student
  • be an Indian national and resident in India
  • have completed the Indian 12th Standard

There is no application process for this award. The University will select the most academically gifted student upon confirmation of exam results at the end of August.
