Internationally recognised expert in biomedical engineering, respiratory physiology and wearable health technologies, Professor Aliverti is hosted by Bath IAH.

Professor Andrea Aliverti is Professor in the Bioengineering Division within the Department of Electronics, Informatics and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano which is 98th in the QS World University Rankings. Prof Aliverti’s research focuses on the bioengineering of the respiratory system and on developing new technologies to improve health monitoring and medical care.

His expertise closely aligns with the Bath Institute for the Augmented Human. and the University’s strengths in movement science, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, exercise physiology and health technologies. As Global Chair, he will help drive collaborative research, enhance international visibility and contribute to Bath's research excellence in health and human performance technologies. Widely recognised for his outstanding contributions to respiratory health and biomedical engineering, Professor Aliverti has been included in the Stanford/Elsevier World Top 2% Scientists ranking, as well as The Fellowship of the European Respiratory Society (FERS). He is author or co-author of more than 280 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 15 book chapters, editor of 4 books and inventor in 15 patents.

Professor Aliverti will be hosted by Dr Ezio Preatoni, Director of Internationalisation and Coordinator of the Biomechanics Group in the Department for Health in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Alongside Professor Damien Coyle, Director of the Institute for the Augmented Human, Dr Benjamin Metcalfe, Head of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Dr Elena Seminati, Deputy Head of Department for Health.
