Before you start
Prioritise these:
- register with the University – complete this as soon as you have received the invitation email
- upload your picture for your ID card once you have completed registration
- read the doctoral induction webpages
- read the starting your doctoral research degree webpages
- go to Moodle (the University's virtual learning platform) and sign in using your University of Bath log-in details, your username and password will have been issued at the application stage. You will be given access to Moodle a few weeks before your course starts.
Other things to consider:
- let us know if you have a disability so we can provide any support you may need
- plan your travel arrangements
- make sure your vaccinations are up to date
- read your programme handbook
International students may also want to:
- arrange visas and important documents
- apply for travel insurance (to cover your stay in the UK)
- find out what to do at the UK border
Once you have started
Prioritise:
- set up your IT including email, antivirus, purchase IT equipment and assistive technology
- on your first visit to campus plan time to collect your library card
- find out who your Doctoral Programme Administrator is
- check you can access your student record in SAMIS and update your contact details
Other things to consider:
- access MyDoctoralDevelopment and complete a training needs analysis
- watch a video on getting started with MyDoctoralDevelopment
- attend any opportunities (in person or online) to meet other researchers in your department
