EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa) funding

As a new doctoral student in science, you may be eligible for funding from SAMBa.

Funding for doctoral students

If you are applying for doctoral study in science, you may be eligible for funding from the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa).


Applications are invited from candidates who have, or who expect to obtain, a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics or in a subject with substantial mathematical content.

Studentship value

Funding lasts for up to four years. This includes:

  • Home tuition fees
  • training support fund £1,000 per annum
  • maintenance stipend £15,609 per annum (2021/22 rate)

This award is open to all applicants (Home and International); however, in line with guidance from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the number of awards available to International students will be limited to 30% of the total.
