EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership

The EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership offers funding to new doctoral students in engineering and science.

Funding for doctoral students

If you are applying for doctoral study in engineering or science, you may be eligible for funding from the EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership (EPSRC DTP).


These are flexible awards to support doctoral training in any areas of engineering and the physical sciences with relevance to the EPSRC remit.

Studentship value

Funding lasts for up to three and a half years.

This includes:

  • tuition fees
  • training support fund £1,000 per annum
  • maintenance stipend £15,609 per annum (2021/22 rate)

This award is open to all applicants (Home and International); however, in line with guidance from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the number of awards available to International students will be limited to 30% of the total.
