Life sciences outreach activities

We offer a range of activities to local schools, colleges and communities.

Arrange a visit

We're happy to talk to you about arranging a visit to your school or college.

We can talk to your pupils about our research into drug discovery, for example, cancer or brain research. We can also explain what it's like to study life sciences at university and discuss potential career opportunities.

Email Tim Woodman at t.woodman@bath.ac.uk to arrange a visit.

Visit us at an Open Day

Come to a University Open Day in June or September.

University Open Days are an opportunity for anyone considering studying at Bath to find out more about the courses and University.

Staff and students from the Department will be there on the days to talk about our courses and to answer any questions you may have.

Highlights from 2018

Find out what teachers and pupils thought about the Bath Taps into Science schools programme in 2018.

Collaboration of art and science

Art of the Brain was the first collaboration between researchers and a local artist.

Researchers from the Department worked with local artist, Stephen Magrath to create a 'sci-art' exhibition that was open to the public in March 2017.

To create his work, Stephen visited University of Bath scientists to discuss the latest developments in brain research. His colourful paintings, drawings and installations are a response to what he discovered about the brain, and how dysfunction is manifested in depression, drug abuse, Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy.
