More than a room

Living in University accommodation gives you more than a room - it can create a sense of community, lifelong memories and lasting relationships.

Welcome home

Whether you're living in the city or on campus, it's our goal to make your University accommodation feel like home.

In addition to the practical elements of each accommodation option, it's useful to learn more about what it's like to live here.

We want to offer choice, so that everyone can find the ideal home here at Bath. By giving you a range of undergraduate and postgraduate accommodation options, including shared houses, en-suite rooms, budget options and quiet rooms, we can create a community that celebrates individuality.

Residence Life

We run a residence life programme to support your transition into University halls, develop a sense of community and help you get the best student experience from your time living with us.

Our remit includes social events and activities, welcome into halls, life skills, peer to peer roles (Student Living Assistants), student support and engagement. Settling into your new home and building relationships are common situations that everyone faces when moving into University accommodation. Your Student Living Assistants are current students who previously lived in halls and will regularly check in with you and your flatmates.

Supporting you every step of the way

We're here to help you to settle in to University life as quickly and easily as possible.

We've recently introduced a Shared Living Agreement to our University accommodation.

The Shared Living Agreement is a set of rules created together by each flat or house, and gives your accommodation group the chance to agree how you'd like to get the most out of living with each other.

The Shared Living Agreement includes preferences on how you are going to use the shared spaces and keep your accommodation clean and tidy, as well as general rules for living together and how you will resolve any conflict.

It's helpful to have these conversations early, as it can be a great opportunity to get to know each other better and to discuss your expectations. Coming to an agreement may mean making compromises, so make sure you are ready to make some allowances. Most of all, it's important that everyone is comfortable and happy living here.

As part of your Shared Living Agreement you will have less house inspections, offering you more independence. Our Student Living team can support you with the whole process.

Where to live

Wherever you choose to live when studying with us, we're here to help.

The Quads, a block of student accommodation buildings

We have accommodation in the city centre and on campus, with great transport links between. Whether you end up living in the city or on campus in your first year, you’ll have everything you need close by. On campus, you’ll be a short walk away from the Library, sports facilities, and Students’ Union. In the city, you’ll be close to cafes, shops, bars and other attractions.

Most of our students live in houses or flats with bedrooms grouped around communal kitchens or social spaces. You can also apply to live in accommodation that comes with Eat and Drink credit to use in our food and drink outlets on campus.

Whichever University accommodation you choose, you'll have access to support from our Student Living Assistants, as well as our dedicated Security team.

Our uniformed Accommodation Security team monitor accommodation blocks on and off campus. All University buildings, including all accommodation blocks, have 24/7 monitored CCTV and electronic access control.

The University of Bath is accredited by Secured Environments and has been named the second safest University in the country.

Spending time in Bath

As well as easy access to the beautiful city of Bath, we're lucky to have a campus set in 200 acres of landscaped grounds, meaning there's plenty of space to enjoy yourself.

With ten different campus bars and restaurants, the Sports Training Village and The Edge arts centre, you'll have plenty of places to find your place in our community.

The city of Bath is just a short bus ride away from campus, and offers lots to explore.

Bath is home to the ancient Roman Baths, the gothic Bath Abbey and the modern Thermae Bath Spa, and is surrounded by green hills and countryside.

Settling in

Make the most of your time here with our Meet & Greet talks.

When you move into University accommodation, you'll be invited to a series of compulsory welcome talks, to give you all the information you need for living with us.

The welcome talks will take place during the arrivals period - exact details will be emailed to you.

The talks will cover important practical topics like cleaning, recycling, reporting maintenance issues as well as getting involved with our social events and activities, getting along with housemates and welfare support.

Our Student Living Operations Team will deliver the welcome talks and also be present during move in to say hi and help you feel at home.

We also will run a series of mixer events with our Student Living Assistants in the first few weeks to help you connect with others beyond your immediate household, if you wish to take part.
