Dr Geoff Smith MBE explains some classic maths problems.

The half knight's tour

In the classic knight's challenge, a knight on a chessboard (8x8) can land on every square of the board once and only once using normal knight moves. But what happens if the board is cut in half (8x4)? Can you solve the problem? Don't worry though as Geoff explains all.

The great fly race

There is an analogue clock with a fly on each hand. As time passes, the hands move and as they pass, the flies swap. Which fly is going around the clock the most times? Can you solve it? Don't worry though as Geoff explains the maths behind the problem.
